2/17/09: Winter Weather Advisory Information

Issued at 1:13 PM CST, Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

*Winter Weather Advisory* has been issued for parts of Northern and Northeast Minnesota until 6 AM CST Wednesday.

Counties in the Duluth area included in this advisory are:

Koochiching MN… Northern Itasca MN… Central and Northern St. Louis MN… Lake MN… And Cook MN…

Some cities included in the advisory are:

International Falls MN… Littlefork MN… Bigfork MN… Hibbing MN… Cotton MN… Ely MN… Crane Lake MN… Virginia MN… Crane Lake MN… Two Harbors MN… Silver Bay MN… Lutsen MN… And Grand Marais MN…

Persistent snow has resulted in accumulations of 3 to 4 inches over Northern Koochiching County and adjacent areas of Northwest St. Louis County This Morning with 1 to 3 inches of snow being reported elsewhere in the advisory area. Snow will continue to fall across the advisory area through Tonight with total accumulations of 4 to 7 inches expected by Wednesday Morning. It’s possible that portions of the advisory area may need an upgrade to a winter storm warning.

Roads will be snow covered and slippery with visibilities falling to around a mile in the heavier snowfall.
