Today’s Weather Summary for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
Partly to mostly cloudy skies were found over the area Today with highs in the 70s to lower 80s with cooler 60s near Lake Superior. Winds were out of the south or east at 10 to around 25 mph. High pressure has moved over the Central Great Lakes This Afternoon with low pressure to our northwest in Southeast Saskatchewan.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (July 21st)
Low pressure off to our NW combined with an approaching warm front and cold front could lead to some showers or thunderstorms especially later Tonight. A southwesterly low level jet of 30-50 knots is forecast to develop ahead of this system Tonight with elevated CAPE approaching 1000 j/kg. The greatest chance for severe thunderstorms looks like it’ll remain over North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota, but isolated strong thunderstorms might move as far east as International Falls, Bigfork and Cass Lake Overnight. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s with south or east winds at 10 to 20 mph.
Monday and Monday Night (July 22nd)
An area of low pressure will pass north of the Upper Midwest this period with a warm front and cold front moving west-east through the Northland during the day Monday. This entire system exits to our east by Monday Night. Scattered showers or thunderstorms are possible at times Tomorrow with mainly dry conditions Tomorrow Night. Severe threat looks pretty low in our area on Monday but a few strong storms could develop, mainly in Northwest Wisconsin. Highs Tomorrow will be in the 70s to lower 80s with lows Tomorrow Night in 50s and lower 60s. Winds will be out of the southwest or northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
