Today’s Weather Summary for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin
A potent upper level trough continued to move into the Upper Midwest Today with decent 12 hour height falls of 60-90 meters. Mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies were common in our area Today with spotty showers. High temperatures were in the 50s to lower 60s. Winds were out of the north or northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (September 20)
Partly to mostly cloudy skies will linger throughout the Northland with isolated early Evening showers. Deep low pressure averaging 995mb will remain over Northern Ontario/Southern Hudson Bay Tonight with high pressure of around 1018mb off to our west. Northerly flow between these 2 features will continue to draw cool air south into the region. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s with north or northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph.
Saturday and Saturday Night (September 21)
High pressure dominates our weather this period resulting in partly cloudy skies and seasonally cool temperatures. Highs will be in the 50s and lower 60s with lows in the 30s to around 40. North or west winds Tomorrow will become more easterly Tomorrow Night at 5 to 15 mph.

Sunday through Tuesday (September 22-24)
Sunday and Monday look dry. A few showers are possible on Tuesday as a low pressure disturbance tracks out of the Northern Plains and into the Upper Midwest. High temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s on Sunday with lows in the 40s to around 50 degrees. Highs on Monday will be in the 60s and 70s with lows in the 40s and 50s. Highs on Tuesday will mainly be in the 60s.
Long Range Forecast – Confidence: High.
Near to above average temperatures are forecast during this period. A large upper level trough looks like it’ll setup across the Western U.S. with a mild SW flow across the Plains. An area of low pressure is forecast to pass west/north of our area later next week, this system could bring some rain to the Northland sometime between the 26th-28th – timing could change though, stay tuned.
