A nice fall day as high pressure covered the Upper Midwest resulting in mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. High temperatures were in the 50s which is average for this time of year. Winds were out of the west at 5 to 15 mph.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (October 13)
High pressure will exit to our south/east Tonight with low pressure heading into Northeast Colorado. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will be found in our area Tonight with lows in the 30s and 40s with west winds turning to the east at 5 to 15 mph.
Monday and Monday Night (October 14)
An area of low pressure is forecast to move out of Northeast Colorado and into Southern Minnesota/Northern Iowa by late Monday Night. This system will bring widespread rain to the Northland early this week. Rain is possible Tomorrow, mainly over North Central and Eastern Minnesota. Rain will gradually overspread all of the Northland Monday Night. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s with lows mainly in the 40s. Winds will be out of the east at 5 to 15 mph with higher gusts developing near Lake Superior.

Tuesday through Thursday (October 15-17)
Low pressure will move from Southern Minnesota/Northern Iowa vicinity to Eastern Wisconsin and Northern Michigan between Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain will continue in the Northland on Tuesday with rain tapering off to a few showers Tuesday Night. Dry weather returns on Wednesday. A cold front moves SE into the area late Wednesday Night into Thursday, this front could bring a few rain showers to the Northland during that time. High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the 40s with some 50s in Northwest Wisconsin. Lows Tuesday Night will be in the 30s to lower 40s. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will be in the 40s and 50s with lows Wednesday Night in the 30s and 40s.

Widespread half to 2″+ rain totals are expected in all of NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin with the heaviest axis of rain possibly setting up from Cass Lake, Brainerd, and Grand Rapids to Duluth and over the Iron Range, North Shore, and Arrowhead.

Still looks chilly through this period with the coldest weather coming Friday and Saturday, and possibly another shot moving in during the 21st-23rd time frame. No big storms are expected though with the flow aloft turning more to the NNW, this will however set the stage for an occasional disturbance/clipper type system to move down from Canada and this could lead to a few showers of snow or rain every now and then. For the most part it looks like temperatures will end up below average during this period.
