18z HRRRX model run
Frost Advisory late tonight until 9 AM Thursday (Blue shaded area on map)
Water vapor satellite loop for October 4, 2017. The system over the northwest U.S. this afternoon could affect parts of the Northland with some rain possible in the Friday PM-Saturday AM time frame.
Sunshine finally returned today although there were some clouds as well so not a totally sunny day but still not bad! Highs today were generally in the mid 50s, near normal to a few degrees below normal for early October.
Partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight and Thursday. Lows tonight in the 30s and 40s with highs Thursday in the 50s to around 60 degrees. Most of the Northland will remain dry through Thursday but the exception to this could be in the far southern portion of the area where a few light showers could fall on Thursday.
The next system which could affect northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin is currently over the Pacific northwest this afternoon and its a strong system — This area of low pressure will make its way into the central Plains through Friday, then will lift northeast into the western Great Lakes on Saturday. As this low moves through, it could bring some rain to east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning while northern Minnesota stays dry the way it looks now.
Note: Next week, mainly Tuesday/Wednesday (October 10-11) still looks a tad chilly as 850mb temperatures dip to around -3 to -6 degrees Celsius which will result in daytime highs mainly in the 40s in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, also looks like there could be some pop up showers both Tuesday and Wednesday, and some of these showers could be in the form of graupel (Soft hail/Snow flakes)
