The sun is out this afternoon across northern Minnesota (North of Highway 2) Clouds are hanging around farther south including in the Twin Ports, Brainerd Lakes, I35 corridor and over all of northwest Wisconsin — Visible satellite from this afternoon, October 5, 2017.
More of a westerly mid/upper level flow covered the upper Midwest today while an upper level system heads east into the central Rockies. Mostly sunny skies prevailed up north today while to the south skies were mainly cloudy thanks to a disturbance which brought some showers and isolated thunderstorms to southern Minnesota today, no rain this far north but we did have the clouds. Highs today ranged from the mid 50s to around 60 degrees.
Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy for northern Minnesota with lows in the mid 20s to low 30s. Mostly cloudy for east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin with some clearing later on, lows in the 30s to lower 40s.
Friday: Partly to mostly cloudy. Showers are possible mainly over southern areas from Friday afternoon into Friday night. Highs will be in the mid 50s along the North Shore of Lake Superior to around 60 degrees elsewhere.
Saturday: Rain possible mainly during the morning from east central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin, mainly dry for northern Minnesota. The entire Northland should be dry Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Highs Saturday ranging from the mid 60s (Brainerd to International Falls) with 50s in far northeast Minnesota and most of northwest Wisconsin.
Note: Low pressure is forecast to move into west central Iowa late Friday afternoon, this low is then forecast to lift rapidly toward the northeast through Wisconsin, then to the north of Lake Superior by late Saturday afternoon — This system could bring some rain to east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin mainly from late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
