Weather Tidbits for Duluth, Minnesota
-Low temperature of 30 degrees on October 9 was the first sub-freezing temperature this fall which matches 2016 when the first fall freeze also occurred on October 9.
-Low temperature of 27 degrees on October 10 is the coldest minimum temperature so far this fall, and the coldest minimum temperature since April 29 (25 degrees)
Note: 5th coldest low temperature on record today, October 10, 2017 at International Falls, Minnesota. Low temperature was 23 degrees which ties with 2014 and 1964 for 5th coldest. The record low for October 10 is 18 degrees set in 1979 and 1919.
The air is crisp and clear today after last night’s killing freeze that occurred over most of the Northland. Abundant sunshine was the weather theme today with just a few high level clouds moving through parts of northwest Wisconsin. High temperatures today were within a few degrees +/- of average with temperatures in the low to mid 50s but International Falls was close to 60 degrees at 4 PM.
Another chilly night on the way for tonight under mostly clear skies, overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s with teens possible in the typical cold spots.
Partly to mostly cloudy skies for Wednesday with highs mainly in the 50s.
Low pressure along the Missouri-Illinois state line late this afternoon will track east-northeast, reaching western Pennsylvania by Wednesday evening — Rain associated with this storm will remain well to the south of the Northland.
High pressure will remain in control of our weather during the next 24 hours as it moves east out of the upper Midwest. Southerly flow on the back side of this high and ahead of an approaching cold front will lead to some increase in moisture which could lead to some low clouds and patchy drizzle in parts of the area later this week, but no organized rainfall events are forecast through Friday.
A few photos I took today from around the Duluth and Fond du Lac areas in Minnesota.
