Here’s the latest on the approaching storm for Thursday and Friday
Note: A slower arrival of the colder air is possible, and if this occurs, then the change over times from rain to snow shown on the images below will be delayed

A potpourri of weather headlines covering parts of the northern Plains, upper Midwest and western Great Lakes
Forecast storm track through Saturday
-Low pressure of 996mb was over southern Saskatchewan Province early this evening, this low is forecast to move into western Minnesota Thursday morning while a few other areas of low pressure develop over the central Plains.
-By Thursday evening, one area of low pressure is forecast to be centered along or near the Minnesota-Wisconsin state line while another area of low pressure heads into western Illinois. Will finally see one main low take over Friday morning near the Illinois-Wisconsin state line, its this low that will then lift slowly N/NE through the central/eastern Great Lakes over the weekend.
-An upper level trough will also form over the upper Midwest Thursday and will become larger in size as it covers the upper Midwest and Great Lakes from Friday through Sunday.
-Light rain develops later tonight over northern Minnesota with snow or a mix in far northeast Minnesota.
-Occasional rain across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Thursday morning but as colder air moves in first aloft, then gradually down to the surface, look for the rain to change over to snow from north to south across northern Minnesota.
-The change over from rain to snow will occur farther south/east, including over east central Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin and in the Twin Ports area sometime early Friday morning through late Friday morning the way it looks now.
Lows tonight will be in the mid 30s to low 40s; Highs Thursday in the 30s in far northern Minnesota to the mid 40s and low 50s in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Colder Friday with highs mainly in the 30s.

.Thursday night… Breezy. Rain. Rain mixing with snow after midnight on top of the hill. Low 35 to 40. Wind east to northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts over 30 mph developing late.
..Friday… Snow on top of the hill with snowfall accumulations of 2-4 inches possible. Snow or rain near Lake Superior with snowfall accumulations of around 1 inch possible. Breezy. High 35 to 40. Wind north at 15 to 25 mph.
