Heads up for late next week! Not a lot of agreement in the computer models on this potential system but most of the computer models do show a low pressure system for late next week which could impact the northern Plains, upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Stay tuned

Warm air advection pattern is well underway this afternoon as 850mb temperatures have climbed to -8 to -12C. Southerly winds have developed today as arctic high pressure shifts into the eastern Great Lakes. High temperatures today were still well below average for the time of year with highs in the mid teens to low 20s (Highs should be in the upper 30s this time of year)
*Occasional light snow for tonight with accumulations generally in the dusting to one inch range in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin with amounts of 2 or 3 inches possible along the North Shore of Lake Superior where some lake enhanced snow could occur tonight with the lingering cold airmass and southerly flow in place. Warmer tonight thanks to the clouds and south wind, lows will be in the teens to lower 20s so basically holding steady from temperatures observed late this afternoon.
*Warming trend continues Saturday with highs in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Mostly cloudy skies are forecast with some sunny breaks possible, could also be some snow showers at times in parts of the Northland.
An area of low pressure will move east through the upper Midwest on Saturday which will be followed by high pressure that will move in for Sunday — Highs on Sunday are forecast to be in the upper 20s to mid 30s (Similar to Saturday’s high temps)
