-3rd coldest high temperature on record for November 10 at International Falls, Minnesota — High temperature on Friday was 18 degrees. The coldest high temperature on record for November 10 occurred in 1986 with a high of 11 degrees.
-Ashland, Wisconsin (24 degrees) tied for their coldest high temperature on record for November 10 while Brainerd (21 degrees) and Hibbing (16 degrees) recorded their 2nd coldest high temperature on record for November 10.
Finally some warmer temperatures today after a stretch of bitter cold! Today’s highs ranged from the upper 20s to mid 30s which is still a few degrees to as much as 10 degrees below average for mid November. A few locations such as Superior and Brainerd managed to climb close to 40 degrees this afternoon, both locations were at 39 degrees at 4 PM. Looking at the upper level temps reveals a warmer airmass over the upper Midwest with late afternoon 850mb temperatures of +2C in southern Minnesota to -4 to -8C across northern Minnesota.
*A quiet weather night ahead under partly to mostly cloudy skies. A cold front will be moving south/east through the Northland this evening but there will be no precipitation as this front moves through. Lows tonight will be in the teens and 20s.
*Partly to mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with highs in the upper 20s to middle 30s. Similar weather conditions for Monday although a bit warmer with highs in the 30s to around 40 degrees.
*High pressure will control our weather through Monday as it advances SE out of the northern Plains.
Note: Update on the system for late next week. Computer models continue to show an area of low pressure impacting the northern Plains, upper Midwest and Great Lakes mainly for next Thursday and Friday. Track and intensity of this system is still uncertain but there is potential for at least some rain or snow late next week across the Northland.
