Yes it has turned colder the last few days but this month is still running several degrees warmer than average over all of Minnesota, Wisconsin and upper Michigan.
21z HRRR model
A little bit of light snow across the Northland for tonight with totals mainly under an inch.
Radar loop ending ~5:30 PM this evening. Seeing an area of radar returns dropping south/east across north central and northeast Minnesota early this evening, not all of this is reaching the ground, however, with only Cook and Orr reporting light snow as of 5 PM.
18z NAM 12km – 500mb Vorticity forecast for Sunday evening through Monday morning. Our next snow maker drops southeast out of North Dakota Sunday evening, it’s quite similar to Friday night’s vort max, except this vort max is further southwest compared to Friday night’s which dropped S/SE through north central Minnesota.
18z NAM 3km – Simulated Radar forecast starting at 6 PM Sunday, ending at 6 AM Monday. Note: There are some differences in the computer models on the start/end times to the snow, but based on the 12z and 18z runs from today it looks like the snow would begin in Duluth after Midnight Monday, and linger most of the morning before ending Monday afternoon. Snow would begin earlier across north central Minnesota, probably after 8-9 PM Sunday. Snow covered and slippery roads are possible across most of the Northland Sunday night-Monday morning so the commute to work or school Monday morning could be impacted by this snowfall.
12z Euro Ensemble model from 12.09.2017. The overall pattern should bring with it several opporuntiies for snow, but with all systems, it will come down to the tracks of each one as to just how much or how little snow will get here in the Northland. Note: I don’t see any major winter storms affecting us through next week at least, but there are a couple minor snow events that could hit us!
