Weather Synopsis
Another winter storm and another miss for the Twin Ports. Snow today has been caused by some warm air advection that was over the upper Midwest. This snow is expected to diminish a bit by later tonight, but another round of snow is likely Tuesday impacting southern portions of the Northland from east central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin. Drier air bleeding south from an area of high pressure to our north will prevent the snow from moving much farther north than the Highway 2 corridor in northeast Minnesota.
Note: If you have travel plans that take you to central, southern or eastern Minnesota or into western, central and northern Wisconsin be prepared for changing road conditions as they become snow covered and slippery through Tuesday night. Visibilities will also be reduced at times due to falling snow and some blowing snow.
Snow is forecast to taper off Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning in eastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin as low pressure heads into the eastern Great Lakes.
Lows tonight will range from around zero in extreme northern Minnesota to the teens and 20s in eastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Highs Tuesday will be in the 20s to lower 30s.
The colder than average temperatures will persist right through the weekend, in fact late this week looks downright frigid given the time of year.
