Weather Synopsis
A warm mid May day with highs in the 70s with a few locations even getting into the lower 80s! Normal highs for May 14 are in the low to mid 60s. There was some sun this morning but this afternoon skies turned a little cloudier with a few rain showers or sprinkles affecting far southern areas from around Hinckley and Pine City, east toward Hayward.
Isolated showers or sprinkles will continue early this evening mainly south of Duluth, mainly dry overnight through Tuesday under clear to partly cloudy skies. Lows tonight ranging from the mid 30s to mid 40s, highs Tuesday in the 60s and 70s with 40s and 50s near Lake Superior due to a stronger lake wind.
Warm air advection returns to the area for Wednesday as winds swing around to the southwest. 925mb temperatures are forecast to climb to around +18 to +23C, this should result in widespread 80 degree temperatures in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin with even some middle 80s quite possible! A cold front dropping south out of Ontario Province will run into a slightly moist and unstable airmass, and this could cause a few showers or thunderstorms to develop during the afternoon-evening hours in parts of the Northland.
