Not a whole lot of snow expected from now through Christmas, but there could be a weak system that could drop a little bit of snow in parts of the Northland sometime later this week-early next week, could be just enough snow to salvage a white Christmas for some of us.

Weather Synopsis for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
More very mild temperatures today with highs in the upper 30s to middle 40s. It was also a windy day with west to northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph! Lots of sunshine across the area today.
Low pressure was near Hudson Bay Canada late this Sunday afternoon with a cold front extending SW of that low through the upper Midwest. High pressure covered the northern Plains. Strong cold air advection and a 40 knot low level jet helped to produce the gusty winds that occurred in our area today.
It will be turning cooler for a brief time later tonight into Monday with 850mb temperatures falling to -4 to -10C. Lows tonight will range from around zero to the teens above zero (Close to average for mid December) Highs Monday ranging from the mid teens to upper 20s which is near to above average for December 17)
Should have clear to partly cloudy skies tonight and Monday with more clouds arriving for midweek as a system approaches from the west — This one could bring a little bit of snow or mixed precipitation to parts of the Northland Wednesday and Wednesday night but it doesn’t look like it would be very significant.
Note: The pattern after December 20 continues to offer at least a few potential snow events which could affect the Northland but still doesn’t look like any major snow events through Christmas.
