Low temperature forecast for Sunday morning, June 16.

Clouds tonight will help keep temperatures from falling lower than the 40s which is a good thing because if skies were clear, some of us would likely have a chance for frost and temps in the 30s come Sunday morning.

Lines of scattered showers and thunderstorms (some strong to severe) have been moving generally from northwest to southeast this afternoon from parts of North Dakota to western-southern Minnesota.

No threat for storms or severe weather in the Northland tonight or Sunday due to the cool, dry airmass that is in place, but we could see some showers in spots later tonight into Sunday.

500mb forecast valid from June 16-30.

Seeing some indications in long range model data for a possible shift in the upper level pattern toward the end of this month.  Winds aloft shifting from northwest to west/southwest which could lead to more persistent warmth developing across the southern U.S. into the Ohio Valley and parts of the eastern U.S, possibly spreading as far north as the upper Midwest and Great Lakes but that could take some time.
