Parts of the Northland saw some thunderstorms today with heavy rain and lightning along with several reports of hail (mostly sub-severe) Over an inch of rain was reported in Isabella and Skibo today, while there was just enough mist to dampen the ground in Duluth and Superior.

A supercell thunderstorm developed along the Douglas-Bayfield County border in northwest Wisconsin late this afternoon, this storm showed some pretty strong rotation at times on radar noted by the red colors on the image below, but there have been no confirmed reports of tornadoes from this storm as of 8 PM Friday.

One area of thunderstorms affected parts of northern and northeast Minnesota today, while another area of thunderstorms affected parts of northwest Wisconsin late this afternoon and this evening. Both areas of storms missed the Twin Ports today, one stayed north, the other developed off to our east.

Watch how the thunderstorms erupt this afternoon and early this evening once the drier air shown in yellow colors reaches a more moist and unstable air mass which was over parts of the Northland today.
