March 2021 was a warm month across the Northland with all 5 climate locations (Duluth, International Falls, Hibbing, Brainerd and Ashland) reporting a top 10 warmest March on record, but average temperatures for the month were still about 5 to 8 degrees cooler compared to those observed in March 2012 which remains the warmest March on record, just shows you how abnormal temperatures were in March 2012.
Precipitation for March 2021 varied considerably with Duluth picking up over 2.50″ of precipitation (177% of normal) while International Falls picked up a little more than a quarter inch of precipitation the entire month (37% of normal)
Snowfall for March 2021 also varied quite a bit with Duluth picking up nearly 9″ of snow for the month (65% of normal) while International Falls only had 1.6″ of snow (21% of normal) In fact March 2021 tied for 5th least snowiest March on record at International Falls.
