Snowfall totals in the Duluth and Superior area from late Tuesday night to early Thursday morning ranged from about 8 to 12 inches, with a couple of reports of over a foot of snow, including in Gary New Duluth, where there was a report of 17 inches of snow.

Note: Duluth set new daily snowfall records: 6.3 in. on Feb. 18 (old record 4.2 in., 1909) and 3.9 in. on Feb. 19 (old record 3.6 in., 1949).

Over the three‑day event Duluth recorded 1.12 inches of liquid precipitation and 12.0 inches of snow, giving an approximate snowfall‑to‑liquid ratio of 11:1, which is close to the typical 10:1 rule of thumb.

My forecast missed the mark in parts of the area, with several locations receiving higher snowfall totals than I projected.

Overall, my forecast verified well for the Duluth area and the North Shore.
