Widespread lake effect snow persists near the Great Lakes in the preferred northwest or west-northwest wind snow belt zones today.

The snow accumulation has been significant, with Dunkirk, NY (north of Jamestown) reporting 32 inches so far, and areas south of Watertown, NY reporting between 36 to 45 inches of snow from this lake effect snow event.

Lake-effect snow has been accumulating in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan, with reports indicating 20 inches of snowfall north of Houghton in Allouez, MI.

Today, another disturbance brought a band of snow across the southern Midwest, moving eastward. Snowfall generally accumulated between 1 to 3 inches, although there were a few reports of up to 4 inches.

Radar loop ends 3:58 PM CT Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Another clipper-like system is expected to move southeast across the northern Plains on Sunday, bringing with it a band of light snow.

NAM 3km model simulated radar forecast valid from 6 AM Sunday to Midnight Monday.

Sunday’s clipper is projected to track too far west and south of the Northland to deliver snow to our region. However, anticipate intermittent lake effect snow in far northern Minnesota near Rainy Lake, as well as along the South Shore of Lake Superior in northwest Wisconsin.

NAM 3km model simulated radar forecast valid through 6 AM Monday.
