This month has been busy with many winter storms in the upper Midwest, but Duluth hasn’t seen much snow due to the storm tracks being unfavorable.

International Falls, MN: +9.2″
Marquette, MI: +6.2″
Twin Cities, MN: +1.7″
Green Bay, WI: +0.4″
Duluth, MN: -7.7″
St. Cloud, MN: -6.9″
Eau Claire, WI: -5.8″
Grand Forks, ND: -0.8″

2015-2024

Average snowfall in March is 12.8 inches

Since 2015 there have been three Marches with above-average snowfall in Duluth. The highest was in 2023 with 34.9 inches of snow, and the lowest was in 2018 with 5.1 inches of snow. Note: March 2025 will likely end with around 5.2 to 5.7 inches of snow.

-Sault Ste. Marie, MI is approaching 200 inches of snow this season, which is approximately 85 inches above the average. Remarkable!

-Marquette, MI has recorded 151 inches of snow so far this season, but this is approximately 25 inches below the average.

-Duluth, MN has the highest snowfall deficit for the season of the cities shown on the map below at 34 inches below average.
