Man this weather pattern sure is active, isn’t it? Now I know how a California weather forecaster feels. Rubber stamp forecast…Same thing – different day. Enjoy.
*One thing to watch will be the consecutive days with a subzero low temperature streak. Duluth is now at 18 days in a row with a below zero low temperature. The record is 22 days which occurred in 1963 and 1936. I think we have a pretty good chance to break this record.
*The record for most days with a subzero low temperature during a winter season has already been broken at Duluth, Minnesota. Were at 51 days with a low temperature below zero so far this winter. I think we could make a serious run at 60 days. Note: The previous record was 48 days which occurred in 1977 – totally shattered that one!
*Holy crap! 91% of Lake Superior is ice covered as of February 6, 2014. Man does this bode well for a warm spring here in the Twin Ports – sarcasm. Source, GLCFS Ice Dynamics.

Long Range Forecast – Confidence: High.
(February 11-16)
Looking for a pattern change…I ain’t seeing one. About the only thing that may be different is the fact that we could see at least a little bit of snow every now and then as a couple systems pass through the Upper Midwest, of course the tracks of those said systems are uncertain this far out in time so stay tuned. Note: If you’re looking for a whopper (big snow event) you’ll be waiting a while. Pattern remains unfavorable for a huge snowstorm. Below average temperatures should continue during this period although probably not as bitter as what were seeing now.
