Weather Synopsis
A colder and more active weather pattern is here with the coldest air of the season so far expected to hit this weekend (Friday-Sunday time frame the way it looks now)
-First storm tonight and Tuesday will mainly be a wind maker for the Northland although there will likely be some showers as well, but the heaviest rainfall will remain east of our area. This first system will also be able to pull down colder air and that plus the wind will be the two main impacts out of this storm for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Lows tonight will be in the 30s to around 40 degrees with highs Tuesday in the mid 30s to mid 40s (Below normal for a change!)
-Another disturbance drops southeast out of western Ontario Province from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning — This one could bring some light snow or rain to parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin with snowfall amounts of a dusting possible in a few locations.
-The third system hits late this week, and this could be the one that brings the first decent snowfall to parts of the Northland. Computer models still at odds on the track of the low with most models digging it farther south with a track somewhere through central Minnesota into northeast Wisconsin from Thursday morning to Friday morning. Note: If this track holds, then the area at greatest risk for perhaps 2-3 inches or more of snow would be north of Duluth, while here in Duluth including east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin expect rain to start, then a transition to a rain-snow mix, and possibly a changeover to all snow with minor snowfall accumulations possible. Timing of this event looks to be from Thursday afternoon through Friday.
