Snow and some blowing snow continues tonight across northwest Wisconsin with the heaviest snow along the South Shore of Lake Superior where another 1 to 5 inches of snow is possible tonight, greatest amounts over northern parts of Ashland and Iron Counties.

Weather Synopsis for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
Big story thru midweek will be the arctic airmass that will be over the Northland. 850mb temperatures will bottom out in the -12 to -15C range, but strong warming will occur later this week with 850mb temperatures climbing to around +2 to +4C by Thursday afternoon!
Frigid tonight with lows in the teens and 20s below zero, possibly some 30s below in northern Minnesota. Not much improvement on Tuesday as daytime highs only climb into the single digits below to single digits above zero. Frigid again Tuesday night with lows in the teens and 20s below. Will warm up slightly Wednesday afternoon with highs in the single digits and teens.
As previously mentioned, temperatures will warm considerably later this week with highs in the upper 20s to middle 30s from Thursday through the upcoming weekend, could even see some upper 30s in a few locations across the area.
Note: After this current arctic blast, the temperature trends at least through mid January don’t look terribly cold around here, but you know how it is with long range forecasts, they can change often!
