Thursday afternoon Greenwood Fire update

Greenwood Fire

Greenwood fire will continue to spread north under current conditions. A wind shift to the northwest will occur Saturday which may cause the fire to spread farther southeast.

Some rain is possible over the Greenwood fire late Friday night-early Saturday morning, but rainfall amounts look fairly light at the moment.

Structures and critical power infrastructure will continue to be threatened near County Road 2, Stony Lake, McDougal Lake, and Highway 1

Whelp Fire

Current size was 15 acres as of late Thursday morning, August 19, 2021.

The Whelp Fire is located four miles northwest of Sawbill Lake in a remote area of the wilderness. A closure order for the Louse River area is in effect.

John Elk Fire

Current size was 3 acres as of late Thursday morning, August 19, 2021.

The John Elk fire is located in a remote area 2.5 miles south of Little Saganaga Lake in the Wilderness.
