1 gauge is in Major Flood stage, 4 gauges are in Moderate Flood stage, 15 gauges are in Minor Flood stage, 14 gauges are Near Flood stage as of 8 PM Friday, April 14, 2023.

Northwest Wisconsin: Nemadji, Bad and Montreal Rivers will continue to produce minor flooding. High flows, snow and ice covered trails, and slippery rocks will make for hazardous conditions for those viewing waterfalls. Low lying areas and backroads are likely continue to be impacted by high creeks and rivers.

North Shore: High flows, snow and ice covered trails, and slippery rocks will make for hazardous conditions for those viewing waterfalls. Up to 8.2 inches of snow water equivalent remains in the higher elevations of Lake County yet to melt. Forest roads and gravel county roads may continue to be impacted by ponding of water and washouts.

Rainy Basin: Snow melt has begun and expected to continue at a moderated pace due to cooler temperatures. Ice jams are possible, especially on the Littlefork river, which may lead to sudden increases in river height. Forest roads and gravel county roads may continue to be impacted by ponding of water and washouts.

Mainstream Mississippi: Mississippi River will continue to increase through the weekend and expected to remain high through the forseeable future. Low lying areas and backroads are likely to continue to be impacted by high creeks and rivers.

St. Louis and St. Croix Basins: Flooding continues with snowmelt and will be exacerbated by additional precipitation this weekend. Low lying areas and backroads are likely to continue to be impacted by high creeks and rivers.

Flood Warnings and Advisories in effect in much of the Northland.

Here’s a list of the active Flood Warnings that are in effect across the Northland

-Flood Warning in effect until 3:45 PM Monday for Burnett County in northwest Wisconsin. Some locations that will experience flooding include, Grantsburg, Siren, Webster, Falun, Alpha, Phantom Lake, Saint Croix State Park and Chengwatana State Forest.

-Flood Warning remains in effect until late Sunday evening for Tyler Forks near Tyler Forks River at Stricker Road near Mellen affecting Ashland and Iron Counties in northwest Wisconsin.

-Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice for the Bad River at Odanah affecting Ashland County.

-Flood Warning in effect until further notice for the St. Louis River at Scanlon affecting Carlton County.

-Flood Warning in effect until 5 PM Monday for the Nemadji River affecting Douglas County.

-Flood Warning until 4 PM Monday for a portion of northwest Wisconsin including Bayfield and Douglas Counties. Some locations that will experience flooding include, Superior, Iron River, Maple, Brule, Poplar, Oulu, Port Wing, Cloverland, Waino, Mouth Of Brule, Blueberry and Wentworth.

-Flood Warning in effect until 4 PM Monday for Carlton, St. Louis and Lake Counties in northeast Minnesota. Some locations that will experience flooding include, Cloquet, Hermantown, Two Harbors, Proctor, Scanlon, Carlton, Floodwood, Oliver, Cromwell, Thomson, Brookston, Saginaw, Fond Du Lac Band Brookston Area, Fond Du Lac Band Cloquet Area, Pike Lake near Duluth, Fond Du Lac Band Sawyer Area, City of Rice Lake, French River and Stoney Point.

-Flood Warning in effect until further notice for the St. Croix River at Danbury.

-Flood Warning in effect from late Sunday night until further notice for the Snake River near Pine City.

-Flood Warning in effect until further notice for the Mississippi River at Fort Ripley and Aitkin.

Note — St. Louis River at Scanlon has reached MAJOR flood stage this evening with a stage of 13.2 feet at 6:30 PM. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.9 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Thursday evening. At 14.5 feet, flood waters enter buildings near River Gate Road if unprotected.
