Minnesota Air Quality Alert: Wildfire Smoke Impact and Low Temperature Reports

-An Air Quality Alert is in effect for areas of central and northern Minnesota until 1 AM Tuesday. The alert covers International Falls, Bigfork, Grand Rapids, Cass Lake, Walker, Leader, Brainerd, Aitkin, McGregor, Hill City, and Grand Rapids.

-The air quality is anticipated to hit the red AQI level in north central and northwest Minnesota, indicating conditions unhealthy for all, while the orange AQI, signifying unhealthiness for sensitive groups, is expected in other parts of the alert zone.

-Smoke from several wildfires in the Saskatchewan province of Canada has been carried into parts of northern and central Minnesota by northerly winds. With high pressure in the vicinity, light winds are anticipated today, resulting in a stagnant air mass and dense ground-level smoke across the northern half of the state.
