First Freeze Dates in Minnesota and Wisconsin

In parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, the season’s first freeze has already taken place. However, many areas, including Duluth, are still awaiting it.

The initial freeze typically occurs from October 1st to 10th along the South Shore of Lake Superior, extending westward to Duluth and northeastward towards the Two Harbors area.

Duluth has experienced a stretch of above-average temperatures recently. In fact, before September 22nd, the last time Duluth recorded a temperature below average was on September 7th.

Note: In Duluth this month, 70% of the days have experienced above-average temperatures, while only 30% have been below average.
