An Arctic airmass is still locked over the Northland, bringing another bitterly cold night with temperatures dropping into the teens and 20s below zero. Northwest winds will keep gusting at 10 to 20 mph, occasionally reaching 30 mph, pushing wind chills down to between 25 and nearly 40 below zero from tonight through mid-morning Sunday.
Very cold temps will continue on Sunday although the core of the arctic airmass will begin to shift eastward, but highs will still only reach about 5 below to 5 above zero in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Milder temperatures make a comeback early in the week, with highs in the teens and 20s on Monday, climbing into the 30s and 40s by Tuesday. In fact, record-breaking warmth could be on the way this Tuesday for northern Minnesota, including International Falls and Hibbing.
