Here’s the evolution of my snowfall forecasts leading up to the event on December 8, 2024.

This first map was more of a heads-up call which I released on December 4th for the possibility of a snow event. Being 4 days out and knowing that computer models could change, I played it safe with snow totals.

My confidence level started to increase on December 5th, so I increased the snow totals where the chances were the highest.

Here’s a forecast setup map made on December 6.

Overall, I’d say my forecasts were pretty spot-on for this event. There were many factors at play, making this a difficult system to forecast. But in the end, my forecasts verified pretty well.

Snowfall totals were increased even more on December 6, now that we were just 2 days away from this event.
