Blizzard warnings and winter weather advisories are still in place for the South Shore of Lake Superior in northwest Wisconsin, lasting through early Thursday morning.

Note: As of 6:30 PM today, Gile, Wisconsin has reported a whopping 25 inches of snow.

By 6 AM Thursday, another 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected along the South Shore of Lake Superior, especially around Hurley and Gile. Strong north to northwest winds, with gusts of 20 to 40 mph, will continue to cause blowing and drifting snow, with occasional blizzard conditions tonight.

The powerful winter storm that swept across much of the Northland from Tuesday into Wednesday is continuing to move farther away from the area tonight.

Goes-19 water vapor loop ending 6:30 PM CT Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Winds will stay on the gusty side tonight and through Thanksgiving across the Northland, ranging from 15 to 30 mph, as a tight pressure gradient persists between the departing strong low and the incoming high-pressure system. While not as strong as earlier today, the winds will still be noticeable.

Temperatures will stay pretty consistent through Friday, with lows in the teens to low 20s, though some spots might drop into the single digits if skies clear for a while. Highs on Thursday and Friday will mostly be in the 20s.

Scattered snow showers and flurries are expected in parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin tonight through early Friday morning. Cold air moving over the larger inland lakes in northern Minnesota will, at times, bring light lake-effect snow as northwesterly winds blow across the water.

Not expecting much snow to pile up outside of the South Shore through early Friday morning.

NAM-Nest model forecast through 7 AM Friday.

The next widespread winter system is expected to pass south of the Northland from late Friday through Saturday. While there’s a chance the computer models could shift slightly north over the next day or so, for now it seems this snow event will mostly stay south of the region.
