*High Wind Warning* is in effect until 1200 AM CDT Tonight for the following counties…In Northeast Minnesota…Southern St. Louis County MN…Carlton County MN…and for Douglas County WI…

A small intense low pressure system with very heavy spiral rainfall bands around the center is moving toward the Duluth-Superior area. Onshore winds of 50 mph with stronger gusts have been reported and will continue along the Duluth-Superior Waterfront This Evening. The more calm eye-like center of the storm is still expected to reach the Duluth-Superior area around Midnight Tonight…With a gradual weakening of this system expected later Tonight. Winds are expected to be less strong well inland.
Winds of 50 mph with stronger gusts will continue Downtown…Also in nearby inland residential areas and along the Duluth Superior Water Front This Evening. Sustainted winds of 50 mph have already brought down trees up to two feet in diameter along the Water Front. Wind damage is being reported further inland in Duluth residential areas. Intense spiral rain-bands have produced very heavy rain of 3-7″ across many areas during the Afternoon. Tornadic activity was reported earlier Today across Southern Minnesota along the path of this storm.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
