From the National Weather Service Duluth, Minnesota.

*Flood Watch*

A flood watch for the Mississippi River near Aitkin until further notice.

*At 12pm Monday the stage was 11.8 feet.
*Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

*The river is forecast to rise to near flood stage Tonight due to 2-3″ of rain which fell near Aitkin on Sunday.  Additional heavy rainfall is expected for Tuesday and Wednesday.  This will cause river levels to rise even higher later this week.

*Flash Flood Watch*

A flash flood watch is in effect from late Tonight through Wednesday Afternoon for the following Counties:

Southern Cass MN
Crow Wing MN
Southern Aitkin MN
Pine MN
Burnett WI

Some cities included in the watch are:  Leader MN…Brainerd MN…Aitkin MN…Pine City MN…Hinckley MN…Grantsburg WI…and Siren WI.

*Flash Flood Watch*

A flash flood watch is in effect from Tuesday Afternoon through Wednesday Afternoon for the following Counties:

Northern Cass MN
Southern Itasca MN
Carlton MN
Central and Southern St. Louis MN
Lake MN
Cook MN
Douglas WI

Some cities included in the watch are:  Cass Lake MN…Grand Rapids MN…Moose Lake MN…Duluth MN…Hibbing MN…Two Harbors MN…Finland MN…Silver Bay MN…Grand Marais MN…Superior WI…and Solon Springs WI.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.  Flash flooding is very dangerous.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
