A flood warning is in effect for the St. Louis River at Scanlon.
*At 1:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 15.2 feet.
*Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
*Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
*The river will continue to rise to near 15.5 feet This Afternoon then begin falling.
*At 13.0 feet flooding of at least 2 businesses in Scanlon occurs.
*This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.8 feet on May 9th, 1950 which is the record flood stage.
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning is in effect for the Mississippi River at Aitkin.
*At 1:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 15.1 feet.
*Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
*Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
*The river will continue to rise to near 20.5 feet by Saturday Morning then hold steady through the weekend.
*At 20.5 feet portions of Highway 169 north of Aitkin become impassable.
*At 18.0 feet the Aitkin Sewage Plant becomes inoperative.
*At 17.0 feet pumping begins at the wastewater treatment plant.
*This crest compares to a previous crest of 22.5 feet on May 20th, 1950
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning is in effect for the Mississippi River at Brainerd.
*At 12:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 13.3 feet.
*Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
*Significant rises can be expected over the next few days.
*At 13.0 feet this will cause flooding of low lying areas.
*At 16.0 feet flooding of a home may occur.
*Flood Warning*
A flood warning is in effect for the Mississippi River near Fort Ripley.
*At 10:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 9.4 feet.
*Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
*The river will rise above flood stage later This Afternoon and continue to rise to near 14.0 feet by Sunday Morning.
*At 13.0 feet this may cause flooding of three homes near Fort Ripley.
*This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.3 feet on March 23rd, 1966.
Forecast: Training of thunderstorms and excessive amounts of rain which occurred in Northeast Minnesota Tuesday Evening and Overnight has led to widespread and major flooding in portions of the Northland. Numerous roads are closed, some are washed out, there have been multiple water rescues in the city of Duluth due to the flooding.

The good news is that the threat for heavy rainfall is over in Northeastern Minnesota, although scattered rain showers are possible into Tonight, any additional rain that we get should not make the current flooding situation any worse.
Scattered strong thunderstorms will continue in portions of Northwest Wisconsin through around 5-This Evening, these storms have the potential to produce hail, gusty winds, dangerous lightning, and torrential rains with localized flooding possible into early This Evening.
