*48 tornadoes touched down in Minnesota on June 17, 2010.
*3 EF-4’s and 4 EF-3’s.
*4 fatalities which is the largest number of fatalities since July 5, 1978.
*The 48 tornadoes on June 17, 2010 was the largest single day outbreak in Minnesota history. The previous record was 27 tornadoes on June 16, 1992.
*7 tornadoes occurred in the Duluth NWS area.

8:05 PM: 1 NNE of Haypoint, MN (Aitkin County)
8:55 PM: 5 SW of Grantsburg, WI (Pine County) ***3 injuries***
9:00 PM: 3 W of Grantsburg, WI (Burnett County)
9:07 PM: 2 ENE of Grantsburg, WI (Burnett County)
10:08 PM: 6 WNW of Webb Lake, WI (Burnett County)
10:08 PM: 6 NE of Webb Lake, WI (Washburn County)
-Map for 3 PM June 17, 2010. Strong low pressure was over Central North Dakota with 60+ dew points and strong southerly winds over Minnesota out ahead of the surface low.
-Significant tornado parameter at 9 PM June 17, 2010. Incredibly high tornado parameters covered the Eastern 1/2 of Minnesota.
-Moderate risk for severe thunderstorms was issued for this outbreak for much of Central and Southern Minnesota (red outlined area)
-Tornado forecast. 10% hatched area for tornadoes for much of Western and Central Minnesota for June 17, 2010. A hatched area means there’s a chance for EF2 to EF5 tornadoes within 25 miles of a location.

-500mb map at 7 PM CDT 6/17/10. SW flow covered Minnesota with a deep upper low/trough stretching from the Pacific NW to the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains.
-300mb map at 7 PM CDT 6/17/10. 70 knot jet stream winds surging E/NE out of the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains helping to fuel the severe weather/tornado outbreak.
