*Northeast Wisconsin tornado tracks from August 7, 2013.  5 tornadoes have been confirmed during the early Morning hours of August 7.  4 EF1 tornadoes and 1 EF2 tornado.  (Source, NWS Green Bay, Wisconsin)















*A sharp NNW flow across the Northland early next week with an upper low remaining near Hudson Bay Canada.  What this means is that temperatures will be a little cool but still be close to average for this time of year – especially the high temperatures.  (Source, Weather Prediction Center)















*1 week from Today there is a subtle change in the H5 pattern as we see the sharp NNW flow relax a bit with more of a NW flow covering the Upper Midwest late next week.  (Source, Weather Prediction Center)

















Today’s Weather Summary for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin

A strong upper level low/trough continues to churn through Ontario with the southern flank of this system covering the Northern Great Lakes and Upper Midwest.  A fairly cool day for August across Northern Minnesota with highs in the low 60s due to thicker cloud-cover along with some spotty showers at times.  Sunshine was a little more abundant further south with high temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s.  Winds were out of the north or west at 10 to 25 mph.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence:  High.

Tonight (August 9)

Partly to mostly cloudy during the Evening should give way to mostly clear skies later on in the night.  Patchy fog may develop late.  Spotty brief showers are also possible through around 8-10pm.  Lows will be in the 40s and 50s with north or west winds at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday and Saturday Night (August 10)

High pressure builds into the Northland during this period resulting in partly cloudy skies.  Still can’t rule out a shower late in the Afternoon or Evening mainly in Northern Minnesota, but overall our area should stay dry.  Highs Saturday will be in the 60s and 70s with lows in the 50s to around 60 degrees.  Winds will be out of the west or south at 10 to 15 mph.

Extended Forecast – Confidence:  High.

Sunday through Tuesday (August 11-13)

Looks generally dry through this period.  Highs in the 60s and 70s Sunday-Tuesday with lows Sunday Night and Monday Night in the 40s and 50s.

Long Range Forecast – Confidence:  High.

(August 14-19)

Near normal temperatures are forecast through this period.  Dry weather continues from the 14th-16th.  Could see a few showers or thunderstorms the 17th-19th.
