*WINTER STORM WARNING*

A winter storm warning remains in effect for parts of Northeast Minnesota, Eastern Minnesota, and for all of Northwest Wisconsin.

Timing:

Until 7 PM CDT Friday.

Discussion:

Snow will continue during the night.  Bands of heavier snow will affect Northwest Wisconsin and far Eastern Minnesota and may also impact the North Shore of Lake Superior at times.  Snow will taper off from west to east on Friday.  Northeast winds will become north Overnight.  Wind gusts to 20 to 30 mph causing blowing and drifting snow.  Near whiteout conditions are possible at times especially near Lake Superior.

Total snowfall accumulations:

Snowfall amounts will vary from 8-12″ between Two Harbors and Duluth and along the I35 corridor to about 4-8″ along the North Shore and west toward Floodwood.  Locally higher amounts over 12″ are possible over portions of Douglas County.

Impacts:

Expect hazardous travel conditions through Friday Morning with snow covered and slippery roads along with poor visibility.

Discussion:

Snow will continue to fall Tonight and on Friday.  The snow could be heavy at times.  Snow should begin to taper off Friday Afternoon or Friday Evening.  Freezing rain and sleet could affect Price County with ice accumulations up to one quarter inch possible.

Total snowfall accumulations:

Widespread 8-12″ snow accumulations are expected with some locations picking up 12″ to as much as 18″ of snow.

Impacts:

Expect hazardous travel conditions through Friday Morning with snow covered and slippery roads along with poor visibility.

Expect light to moderate snow to continue Tonight and Friday Morning before ending.

Total snowfall accumulations:

4-8″ in Southern/Eastern parts of Aitkin County with lower amounts in the Western/Northern part of the county.

Expect hazardous travel conditions through Friday Morning with snow covered and slippery roads along with poor visibility.

A winter weather advisory continues for parts of North Central and Northeast Minnesota.

Note:  The winter storm warning which was in effect for Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties has been cancelled.

Discussion:

Light snow will fall at times through Friday Morning before ending.

Total snowfall accumulations:

Generally 1-4″ of accumulation is expected.

**A winter weather advisory for snow means that accumulating snow will cause travel difficulties.  Be prepared for snow covered and slippery roads and reduced visibility.  Allow extra time to reach your destination**

8 PM:

-Low pressure of 1002mb was over Northern Missouri.  This low will continue on a northeast track and should move into Southern Wisconsin by daybreak Friday before it moves into Northern Michigan Friday Afternoon.

-Snow, heavy at times will continue the rest of Tonight over Northwest Wisconsin and in far Eastern Minnesota.  Snow will also continue farther west-north but should be lighter in intensity.

-Some sleet and freezing rain may affect Price and perhaps Iron Counties in Northwest Wisconsin with ice accumulations of up to 1/4″ possible over Price County.

-Snow will taper off from west to east during the day Friday.
