Location: Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
A cooler day compared to the last few. Low pressure of 1006mb was over Southern Wisconsin late This Afternoon with high pressure of 1036mb over Southeast Alberta. Parts of the Northland did get some much needed rain Today thanks to strong frontogenesis which passed through the area Today. High temperatures occurred early This Morning when readings were in the 40s and 50s, by This Afternoon temperatures had fallen into the 30s and 40s thanks to the cloud cover and rainfall. Winds Today were out of the north or northwest at 10 to 20 with higher gusts.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (March 16)
High pressure builds into the Northern Plains Tonight while a cold front sags south toward the Borderland area. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will occur Tonight. Rain will come to an end This Evening in East Central Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. Low temperatures will be in the 20s with northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.
Tuesday and Tuesday Night (March 17)
An area of high pressure will be moving through the Upper Midwest during this period while a frontal boundary sets up over the Northland. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are forecast Tomorrow and Tomorrow Night with highs on Tuesday in the 30s to around 40 degrees with 20s in the Arrowhead. Lows Tuesday Night will be in the 20s to lower 30s with teens in the Arrowhead. Winds will be out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Wednesday through Friday (March 18-20)
Mainly dry weather is expected on Wednesday with highs in the 30s and 40s, lows Wednesday Night will be in the 20s and 30s. There could be a few rain showers or possibly a few snow showers from Thursday into Friday but this doesn’t look like a very big deal at this time. Highs on Thursday will be in the 40s with 30s in far Northeast Minnesota, lows Thursday Night will be in the 20s and 30s. Highs on Friday will be in the 30s and 40s.

Near to below average temperatures are forecast from the 21st-26th. The period from the 23rd-25th could feature some rain or snow in parts of the Northland although at the moment this looks like a light precipitation event whether it’s rain or snow, so the possibility for a major storm around here continues to be very low through the end of March.
