Location: Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
A messy surface pattern in place Today with a couple of weak lows over the Upper Midwest and Northern Ontario while a frontal boundary washes out over Central Minnesota. The Northland saw partly sunny-mostly cloudy skies Today and there were a few light showers and sprinkles in spots. Temps remained on the mild side with highs in the 60s to lower 70s but it was cooler close to Lake Superior mainly from Downtown Duluth up along the North Shore. Winds Today were generally out of the southwest, north or northwest at 5 to 15 mph.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (April 16)
High pressure will build into the area Tonight. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will continue with any remaining sprinkles or light rain showers ending early. Low temperatures will generally be in the 30s and 40s with winds shifting to the north or northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
Friday and Friday Night (April 17)
A new cold front will move SSE through the Northland during Friday Afternoon and Evening. No precip with this front. Sky conditions generally partly cloudy to partly sunny Tomorrow and partly cloudy for Friday Night. Unseasonably warm temperatures once again on Friday with highs in the 60s and 70s. Lows Friday Night will be in the 30s and 40s. Winds becoming west or southwest Tomorrow at 10 to 20 mph. Winds Friday Night will turn to the east or northeast at 5 to 15 mph with higher gusts near Lake Superior.

Saturday through Monday (April 18-20)
We stay dry on Saturday with high pressure to our north while low pressure moves east/northeast out of the Western and Central Plains — This system should impact the Northland from Saturday Night through Monday with some rain expected at times.
Highs on Saturday will be in the 50s and 60s but it will be much cooler near Lake Superior. Highs on Sunday will be in the 40s and 50s with cooler temperatures again near Lake Superior. Highs on Monday will be in the 30s and 40s.
Lows Saturday Night and Sunday Night will be in the 30s and 40s.

Certainly looking a lot cooler next week as we get into a N-NW flow aloft with low pressure to our north/northeast which will lead to some rain or snow showers at times in Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin especially from Tuesday-Thursday (21st-23rd) Below average temperatures are expected from the 21st-26th. Right now it looks like daytime highs will hold in the 30s and 40s in our area most of next week which would be 20-30 degrees colder than what we have been seeing recently, and highs in the 30s and 40s would be about 10-20 degrees below average for late April.
