Weather Synopsis:
Arctic airmass is firmly entrenched across the Northland. Highs today were in the single digits below to around zero degrees which is 10-15 degrees below average for early January. A mix of sun and clouds today, and there were even a few flurries at times. A gusty wind continued today which led to frigid wind chills through the day with the lowest wind chills occurring before Noon.
*A blob of -24 to -26 C 850mb temperatures was over the Northland this afternoon, not much change in the temperature at the H85 level through Friday night with a very cold pattern persisting for a while longer. Will have partly to at times mostly cloudy skies in our area with an occasional flurry possible due to a lingering trough/frontal boundary over the area.
*Low temperatures tonight will be in the teens, 20s and 30s below zero; Highs on Friday in the single digits below to single digits above zero; Lows Friday night in the single digits below to around 20 below.
*A few opportunities for light snow next week (9th-14th) doesn’t look like any one of these events would produce more than 1-2″ of snow, but that could change in coming days.
