Looks quite humid Saturday — Check out the forecast dew points for Saturday afternoon per 18z NAM.
Nice looking spin moving across northwest Minnesota this afternoon — This system will be with us into Thursday but we’re not looking at widespread rainfall in our area.
Still seeing potential for a couple rounds of thunderstorms across the Northland this weekend into the middle portion of next week.
The potential is there for a wetter weather pattern across the Northland especially this weekend into the middle of next week.
Above normal high temps continued across most of the Northland today with highs in the 70s to lower 80s. Partly to mostly cloudy skies covered the area today with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms affecting western portions of the area.
A strong disturbance/upper low will track east/southeast out of northwest Minnesota through Thursday while a cold front weakens as it settles slowly south/east reaching southern Minnesota by Thursday night. There will be enough lift with the approaching front and disturbance to produce a few showers and thunderstorms over parts of the area tonight and again Thursday — The atmosphere will be somewhat unstable with CAPE of 200-700 j/kg (Perhaps a little higher Thursday PM) Lapse rates aren’t very impressive though, and the overall amount of wind shear is far from impressive, result from this will be for generally spotty non-severe thunderstorms with downpours and occasional lightning being the main threats.
Note: This same system affecting us tonight and Thursday did produce some severe weather today in far eastern North Dakota, mainly around the Grand Forks area with preliminary reports of ~6 tornadoes today.
Lows tonight will be in the 50s to lower 60s. Highs Thursday mainly in the 70s with 60s in far northeast Minnesota.
