4 PM CDT, August 25, 2017 Harvey update — Maximum sustained wind 125 mph with movement to the northwest at 10 mph. Harvey was about 60 miles east-southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas with a minimum central pressure at 27.79 inches or 941 mb.

Absoultely incredible amount of rain over a large portion of south and east Texas through late next week all because of Hurricane Harvey. Catastrophic flooding is likely!
The 12z European model track of Hurricane Harvey is not good! This storm could linger over south/east Texas for upwards of a week — If this happens, then widespread historic flooding will occur along with the damage associated with the winds from Harvey and also can’t forget about the storm surge which has potential to be extremely dangerous, and finally the risk for tornadoes!

Weather Synopsis
Clouds have been slowly increasing from southwest-northeast this afternoon with far northern Minnesota down to the North Shore and eastern portions of northwest Wisconsin still seeing a good amount of sun as of 3 PM. Highs today ranged from around 70 in far northern Minnesota with low to mid 60s over most of the rest of the Northland.
Rain increasing in coverage from SW-NE later tonight/Saturday morning with rain at times Saturday afternoon through Sunday. A slow moving surface and upper level low pressure system will head east out of the northern Plains and will move through the upper Midwest Saturday and Sunday. Moisture increases ahead of this system thanks to a southerly low level jet of 30-40 knots which advects deeper moisture into the Northland. PWATS this afternoon ranged from a half inch in extreme northeast Minnesota to 1.10 inches around the Brainerd Lakes area — Expect PWATS over the entire Northland to be in the 1.10″ to 1.60″ range on Saturday which could result in some heavier downpours affecting parts of the area.
Note: There will be some weak elevated instability over parts of the Northland through the weekend which may lead to an isolated thunderstorm or two but overall this looks more like a rain event with very little thunderstorm activity for our area.
Lows tonight and Saturday night will be milder compared to previous nights thanks to the clouds and eventually the rain — Lows will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be on the cool side, though, thanks to the clouds and rain with temperatures in the mid 50s to mid 60s.
