Weather Synopsis
A nice mild day across the Northland under mostly sunny skies. Highs today were generally in the mid to upper 70s with a few locations around 80 degrees. Note: Normal high temperatures on September 11 are mainly in the upper 60s, so today’s high temps were around 10 degrees warmer than average.
Tonight will be mostly clear and cool with areas of low clouds/fog possible mainly over parts of eastern Minnesota into north central Wisconsin. Lows in the 40s and 50s with 30s possible in the typical cold spots around the area.
Warm temperatures continue Tuesday under mostly sunny skies. Highs ranging from the upper 70s to middle 80s!
Will begin to see some changes on Wednesday as a cold front settles south into far northern Minnesota. Instability and moisture will increase near this front, and a few showers and thunderstorms could develop on Wednesday mostly over north central Minnesota. Highs will remain on the mild side Wednesday with readings in the upper 70s to middle 80s.
Note: The period from Thursday through Saturday could turn wet and stormy at times as a frontal boundary sets up over the northern Plains and upper Midwest — Moisture, instability, and possible disturbances moving into the area could trigger several rounds of showers and thunderstorms in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall and a few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible in parts of the Northland later this week.
