12z European model from 9.17.2017. 500mb height forecast valid for Friday, September 22, 2017. Could be looking at a warm couple of days in the Northland later this week depending on where the trough and ridge setup. Note: Today’s Euro model would result in very warm temperatures in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin especially Friday-Saturday (22nd-23rd) Will see what future model runs show in coming days. Meanwhile to the east, Hurricane Jose could affect parts of the Mid-Atlantic and northeast U.S. mid to late week (Purple outlined area on map) Strong winds and heavy rainfall is possible for those areas if Jose tracks close enough to the coast.

Weather Synopsis
Cooler temperatures over the entire Northland today with highs ranging from the low to mid 60s in eastern Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin and near Lake Superior with 50s over north central Minnesota. Clouds decreased over most of the area by this afternoon with a good deal of sun in all but far northern Minnesota.
Quiet and cool tonight as high pressure passes over the upper Midwest. Lows will be in the 40s with 30s in the typical cold spots.
Mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies Monday with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Looks like there could be some rain showers in parts of the Northland from mid morning through the early evening hours, but computer models aren’t in the best agreement on the placement of these showers with some keeping them over northern Wisconsin and in far northern Minnesota, another model is much drier while another one has showers scattered throughout the Northland. These possible showers would be caused by an upper level disturbance which moves E/NE out of the Rockies.
Dry most of Tuesday but showers and possibly some thunderstorms are expected to move into northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Tuesday night with lingering rain into Wednesday morning the way it looks now. This rain will be caused by a vigorous low pressure system along with a warm front and cold front which is forecast to move quickly toward the east/northeast out of the northern Plains. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will range from the lower 60s to around 70 degrees.
