The Storm Prediction Center has issued a …Tornado Watch… for Northern Minnesota until 9 PM.
Primary threats include
A couple tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter likely
This watch includes the Counties of Koochiching, Itasca and St. Louis. Some cities included in the watch…International Falls, Bigfork, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Ely and Duluth.
5:18 PM — The most imminent threat for strong to severe thunderstorms is over far northern Minnesota (white outlined area on map) Isolated supercells are developing late this afternoon in that area with all modes of severe weather possible through early this evening.
The yellow outlined area on the image below is where isolated showers and thunderstorms are trying to develop as of 5 PM Wednesday, and this area will need to be monitored during the next few hours for the possibility of a few strong to severe thunderstorms.
