- A more active weather pattern will be with us into early next week.
- Scattered rain showers this evening will change over to some snow and flurries from NW-SE overnight as colder air both aloft and at the surface moves into the Northland.
- Some snow and flurries lingers through Saturday morning mainly over northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, this will be followed by dry conditions Saturday afternoon along with some clearing.
- Sunday will start with some sun, but clouds will be on the increase once again as a new system moves into the Northland. Expect snow or a rain/snow mix to spread NE into our area either Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening with a mixture of precipitation continuing Sunday night before changing over to rain on Monday. Although surface temps will remain chilly on Monday (30s) temperatures aloft will warm up quite a bit thanks to a strong low level jet out of the south, this will lead to a push of warm air advection late Sunday night and Monday resulting in any frozen precipitation switching over to rain at that time. Note: Snowfall amounts of a trace to 2 inches are possible in much of the Northland Sunday afternoon/night the way it looks now.
Note: A few rain showers are possible in Duluth and Superior this evening, and this will be followed by a chance for some snow in the Twin Ports Saturday morning, roughly in the 4 AM to 9 AM time frame.

Here’s my snowfall forecast ending 12 PM Saturday.
1-2″ of snow is possible over the Arrowhead, and also along portions of the South Shore of Lake Superior in northwest Wisconsin.
A trace to 1″ of snow is possible in Duluth and Superior.
Temperatures this afternoon in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin are running about 10 to 20 degrees cooler compared to Thursday afternoon, and will keep the cool temps around through this weekend with highs Saturday in the 30s and 40s, with Sunday’s highs mainly in the 40s, but temperatures will drop from south to north during the day Sunday as precipitation moves in from the west/south.
A cold front moving SE (blue line on map) combined with an area of low pressure over southwest Minnesota will keep chances for some precipitation in the forecast across the Northland tonight into Saturday morning.

We’re looking at a big range in temperatures on Monday with highs only in the 30s across northeast Minnesota, while temperatures in the 70s will be found across southern Minnesota.
Anywhere from a quarter to three quarters inch of precipitation is possible across the Northland through early next week with some additional rain possible during the middle of next week mainly over parts of northwest Wisconsin the way it looks now.
