A clipper system will move across the Northland tonight bringing some rain to much of the area, while some wet snow or a rain/snow mix occurs in far northeast Minnesota. This precipitation is expected to move out of the area early Thursday morning with mainly dry weather during the day Thursday.
Another system will move through the area Thursday night into Friday bringing more chances of rain especially from eastern Minnesota into northern Wisconsin with a few showers possible in northern Minnesota.
As for temperatures, the warmest day will be on Thursday with highs in the middle 50s to lower 60s, but it will be cooler near Lake Superior as winds look to be out of the east, although there is a chance that we could see a few hours of an offshore wind direction/warmer wind direction Thursday morning through about mid-afternoon Thursday before winds shift back to the east.
Highs Friday through Monday will mostly be in the 40s with a few lower 50s mixed in as well, but overall, we’re looking at daytime temperatures running about -10 degrees below average for this time of year from Friday through Monday.
Timing of tonight’s rain for Duluth — Rain begins this evening between 7 PM-9 PM. Rain comes to an end early Thursday morning between 3 AM and 5 AM.

Tonight’s system has some good dynamics with it, but the strongest lift/forcing (yellow, orange, reds and purples on the animation below) move through fairly quickly, but there could be a few heavier downpours as the best dynamics sweep through the area later this evening/overnight.
The development of another large upper level low/trough will take place this weekend into early next week over the Great Lakes. This system will likely bring occasional showery precipitation to northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this weekend with rain showers being the main precipitation type, although some wet snow is also expected at times especially in far northeast Minnesota and in northern Wisconsin (inland from Lake Superior)
