- Light snow in parts of the Northland tonight with some lingering flurries and snow showers along with a little sun for Tuesday.
- Lake effect/enhanced snow continues along the North Shore of Lake Superior tonight.
- Another system brings more chances for light snow accumulations Wednesday-Friday.
- Heavier snow amounts possible near Lake Superior mid to late week.
- Arctic air arrives this weekend.

Here’s my updated snowfall forecast (additional amounts) through 6 PM Tuesday.
2 to 4 inches of snow along the North Shore with up to 2 inches of snow possible along the South Shore, and this would mainly occur on Tuesday as winds shift from the east to the north.
Trace to 1 inch of snow in most of northwest Wisconsin, far eastern Minnesota and also in far northern Minnesota with a swath of about 1 to 2 inches of snow in between.
Duluth: Up to 1″ of snow through Tuesday.

A powerful storm is lifting northeast out of the southern Plains this evening with widespread impacts occurring over a large area.
Those impacts include heavy snow northwest of the low affecting parts of the following states: Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
But on the southeast (warmer) side of this low were seeing showers and thunderstorms along with a threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes stretching from southeast Texas to central/southern Louisiana, southern half of Mississippi and Alabama into western Florida.

Tornado watches in effect near the Gulf Coast, and this threat for severe thunderstorms including a risk for tornadoes will continue through the night and during the day Tuesday, with the risk on Tuesday shifting into parts of the southeast U.S.

Plenty of dynamics with this storm including strong winds aloft of >100 knots north of Lake Superior to as strong as 160 knots over southwest Texas.

Seeing a nice temperature contrast helping to fuel this storm today with 850mb temperatures ranging from -23C in central Canada to +13C in northern Mississippi.

A widespread storm affecting many areas this afternoon.

A very active weather pattern continues through this weekend as will see a couple more systems track east out of the Rockies.
Note: The most favored area for significant snow accumulations looks like it’ll stay over parts of the Midwest and southern Great Lakes region or in other words staying well south of the Northland.

Arctic air becomes widespread in the Northland late this week or this weekend with at least a few days of subzero temperatures likely.
