We’ve seen about 2 to 4 inches of snow in Duluth since Wednesday with up to an inch of additional snow possible through early this afternoon. Snow should end in Duluth this afternoon.
Around 5 to 7 inches of snow has been reported along the North Shore of Lake Superior through about 9 this morning.
More snow along with gusty winds are expected Friday into Saturday, and I’ll have more on this later today which will include a snowfall forecast for this next event.

Out of all the computer models, I’d say the NAM 3km model has been handling this snow event the best.
Duluth area: Snow for the rest of the morning. Snow ends this afternoon between 12 and 2 PM. Up to an inch of additional snow is possible in Duluth today.
Snow will continue through the day and into tonight farther north including for the Arrowhead and along parts of the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Here’s the NAM 3km simulated radar forecast through 6 AM Friday.

Additional snowfall accumulations through 6 AM Friday.

Temperatures are running a lot colder in western and central Minnesota this morning with temperatures around 0 to 5 above as far east as Brainerd and Longville where skies have cleared a bit in spots, but milder temperatures persist a little farther east with temperatures in the 20s as of mid-morning.

And no surprise here that we continue to see an area of light to moderate snow in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this morning in the milder air mass or out ahead of the colder air in central Minnesota.

It’s an active weather pattern right now with several systems across the central/northern U.S.

Here’s a loop of the above image through 8:51 AM Thursday.
