Very cold temperatures continue through Saturday with lows tonight and Friday night ranging from around 5 below to 25 below zero. Highs Friday will range from around zero to 10 above with highs Saturday ranging from around 10 to 15 degrees.
Milder temperatures are likely for next week with highs in the teens to around 20 Sunday, warming into the low to mid 30s by next Wednesday.

A weak wave is passing well south of the Northland today and this system has been producing a widespread area of light snow with some heavier snow showers/squalls today in parts of the Midwest.
A mid and upper-level low located over Manitoba and western Ontario today will drop south/east into the upper Midwest tonight before exiting off to the east later in the day Friday.
A few light snow showers and flurries are likely tonight into Friday morning in parts of the Northland as this 500mb low moves through.

Lake effect snow showers are likely tonight through early Saturday morning east of Ashland along the South Shore of Lake Superior with snow accumulations of 2 to 8 inches possible for the Upson, Iron Belt, Montreal, and Hurley areas in northern Wisconsin.
The rest of the Northland can expect a trace to 0.5 inches of snow tonight into Friday morning.
