Chances for some precipitation return to the Northland late this weekend as a strong area of low-pressure and upper-level trough lifts northeast out of the western High Plains.

It doesn’t look like will see a lot of precipitation out of this system in the Northland but at least some scattered rains are expected Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning.

Temperatures do look warm enough for precipitation to fall as rain in our area late this weekend with any snow confined to parts of North Dakota and far northwest Minnesota Sunday into Monday morning.

We should see quite a range in temperatures Sunday with quite a large warm sector for this time of year setting up across central/southern Minnesota into much of Wisconsin where widespread 60s are expected Sunday with some 70s even possible in southern Minnesota into west central/southern Wisconsin.

It will be much cooler farther north with temperatures in the 40s in northern Minnesota and also near Lake Superior where a northeast wind coming off the lake will keep temps on the cooler side Sunday.

Again, this likely won’t be a major precipitation event in our area with precip totals ranging from around 0.05″ to 0.25″ the way it looks now for Sunday-Sunday night.

Snowfall forecast for Sunday-Monday morning.

It looks like will get rid of the breezy east wind in Duluth on Friday and replace it with a south or southwest wind and as long as that happens (never guaranteed by the lake in spring) we should see temperatures up around 50 degrees Friday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the Northland mid 40s to low-mid 50s are likely on Friday.
